Ishan Kishan’s possible return to the Indian team has been anticipated by BCCI secretary Jay Shah. Shah stressed the value of domestic cricket for any player hoping to make a return to the country in a statement to the Times of India. He made it clear that for Ishan to be considered for selection, he must follow the guidelines set forth by the board and regularly perform well in domestic events.

Late last year, Ishan Kishan’s cricket career took a major turn for the worst. Due to a mental health break, he chose not to travel with the India team for the Test series against South Africa.

His absence from the domestic season thus resulted in his removal from the BCCI central contract list. He played well for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2024 but was not selected for the T20 World Cup or the ensuing white-ball series. However, it appears that a shift in strategy is in progress.

As per rumoured conversations with the BCCI, Ishan has pledged to participate in domestic cricket. Because of this choice and his steady work, he has been selected for the Duleep Trophy team. He might make a comeback to the Indian Test team for the forthcoming Bangladesh series, and the event could provide an important platform for that.

The Duleep Trophy excitement would be generated when the national call-up of Ishan Kishan, an Indian cricketer, in a squad of 61 players for it. A few days back board was releasing a statement pointing towards some possible things.

With the Bangladesh series knocking on the doors starting from Sep 5-24; every player who wants to catch the eye of selectors has to do something good in this tournament. For him to be part of the Indian team again, BCCI secretary Jay Shah has warned that he better follow the board’s other interests.

“He will have to follow the rules. He will have to play domestic cricket,” Shah told the Times of India.

As a preseason domestic warm-up for the forthcoming season, the Jharkhand Cricket Association is presently being led by Ishan Kishan in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.
