Former Mumbai Indians Batter Breaks Yusuf Pathan’s 14-Year Record For Fastest List A Century In VHT 2024

The Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) 2024 has already witnessed some outstanding and record-breaking batting performances early in the tournament. On Saturday, December 21, Punjab’s Anmolpreet Singh scored an unbeaten century to lead his team to victory over Arunachal Pradesh in their Group C match.

The 26-year-old reached his century off just 35 balls, setting the record for the fastest List A hundred by an Indian. The former Mumbai Indians (MI) batter made an unbeaten 115 off just 45 balls as Punjab chased a modest target of 165 against Arunachal Pradesh.

Captain Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for 10 runs, while Prabhsimran Singh remained not out on 35, alongside Anmolpreet at the crease. Anmolpreet’s explosive 115* featured 12 fours and nine sixes, with an incredible strike rate of 255.55.

The record was previously held by former Indian all-rounder Yusuf Pathan, who had scored a 40-ball century against Maharashtra in the 2009-10 VHT season while playing for Baroda. He made an unbeaten 108 off 42 balls in that match. Anmolpreet’s dazzling century in the VHT 2024-25 match against Arunachal Pradesh broke Yusuf’s 14-year-old record.

Anmolpreet is now third on the list of fastest List A centuries overall. Australia’s Jake Fraser-McGurk leads with a 29-ball century, while South African legend AB de Villiers holds second place with a 31-ball ton.
