The Sinhala newspapers are reporting that a forty-one-year-old ex-cricketer from Sri Lanka named Dhammika Niroshana was killed by shooting at his home in Ambalangoda, a small town in the Galle district on Tuesday night (July 16th ).

Police in the local area investigating the incident also state that Niroshana was shot by an unknown person on the social scene while he was with his wife and two children. So far, the offender is still at large. The motive for the crime has not been established, even as investigations continue apace.

According to reports, the event happened at the former cricket player’s Ambalangoda home, Kanda Mawatha. According to many local media accounts, Niroshana was at home when the incident happened with his wife and two kids.

A 12-bore gun is said to have been used by the assassin of Niroshana. The police arrived on the scene as soon as they learned of the situation, sent the body for autopsy, and left. As of right now, no more details are accessible.

Dhammika Niroshana was regarded as one of the greatest pace bowling all-rounders:

Another outstanding pace-bowling all-rounder allegedly emerged from the Sri Lankan youth setup and he was named Dhammika Niroshana. Farvez Maharoof, Angelo Mathews, Upul Tharanga, and many others have mentioned that they were coached by this particular person during their age group level.

He quit the sport at the age of 20. From 2001 to 2004, Niroshana played 8 List A games as well as 12 first-class games for the Galle Cricket Club. Niroshana, as a handy cricketer, could both score runs and take wickets with bat and ball, respectively.

In his overall playing years, he has taken more than 300 wickets. He has also realistically represented Sri Lanka in a few under-19 Test cricket matches, two years of One Day International Test cricket, and the Sri Lankan Under-19 team in 2000.

Niroshana’s professional career did not go as planned, despite his potential, and he retired from competition in December 2004.
