The outbreak of the pandemic coronavirus across the globe has forced the organisers to call-off or postpone all the cricketing events. And now, with no signs of improvement, the future of upcoming Asia Cup 2020 also hangs by the wire.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is slated to host this year’s tournament but it is almost confirmed that India will not travel to Pakistan. In 2018, India was the host nation of the tournament which was played in the United Arab Emirates. This year also, UAE is scheduled to host the tournament which will see the biggies of the continent go up against each other.

However, with coronavirus spreading like a wildfire, there is a complete lockdown in almost all parts of the world. It is a measure adopted by many governments to curb the spread of the deadly virus. As a result, all workplaces are shut with people working from home.
This means the upcoming meeting of Asian Cricket Council is likely to be called off. A report in PTI suggests that the Asian Cricket Council’s (ACC) meeting to take a call on the venues of the tournament was delayed due to coronavirus. As a result, dark clouds loom on the future of the tournament and the picture will only be clear when this madness ends.

The 15th edition of the Asia Cup is slated to be played in September; however, the full itinerary is yet to be revealed. The T20 competition was seen as a preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup which commences in October in Australia.
