Gautam Gambhir And Virat Kohli Enjoy A Casual Moment During Practice Before The IND vs SL ODI Series

Virat Kohli and Gautam Gambhir were having a good time during the practice session that took place prior to the first ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo. The Indian team, who is preparing for the ODI series with Islanders, saw this image of Kohli and Gambhir being circulated on social media.

As a coach, the ex-India opener had a wonderful T20I series where a revamped Indian squad recorded an unblemished sweep over Sri Lanka with the concluding match marked by a Super Over win. Now he has moved from Pallekele to Colombo and joined the Indian team that will confront their Sri Lankan counterparts in three ODIs starting on August 2.

Virat Kohli arrived at camp on July 29, and some practice sessions were held before his arrival. At the age of 36, he declared his retirement from T20 international cricket after capturing the recently finished ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The focus now shifted back to Test matches for him. For this reason, he missed out T20 Internationals against Sri Lanka.

During the practice sessions, they had a brief meeting with each other where they exchanged some words. The International Cricket Council (ICC) tweeted out photos from India’s practice session:

Gautam Gambhir has had a magnificent achievement in the most shortest edition of cricket. Kolkata Knight Riders appointed him for mentor this year and helped them clinch their third Indian Premier League (IPL) title. The first task of internationals coach was completed with India winning T20I series by 3-0.

This series of fifty overs is going to be Gambhir’s first job as a coach for ODIs. Since he does not have any more 50 over games before the next year’s Champions Trophy he will try his best to keep the team focused so as to win more trophies by March 2025.

In spite of his retirement from T20Is, the world has huge expectations on Virat Kohli to prove himself. He was fantastic in ODIs last year scoring 1377 runs in 27 games. Moreover, during The Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, he had an exciting journey recording 765 runs and was awarded as the Best Player in the tournament.

This series of three one day internationals (ODI) between India and Sri Lanka will be played at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo starting from 2nd August 2023, under the leadership of Rohit Sharma for India.
