Gautam Gambhir Highlights Kohli’s Unwavering Hunger For Greatness Ahead Of IND vs BAN Test Series

Gautam Gambhir has emphasized that Virat Kohli’s most significant strength is his ongoing drive to remain the best in the world. The former Indian opener and current head coach believes Kohli’s recent lack of red-ball cricket won’t negatively affect his performance in the upcoming Test series against Bangladesh.

India is set to play a two-match Test series against Bangladesh, with the first match kicking off in Chennai on Thursday, September 19. Kohli returns to the format after missing the previous home Test series against England earlier this year.

During a discussion on JioCinema, Gambhir was asked about Kohli’s readiness for the Bangladesh series, given that he has only played one Test match this year and hasn’t played a Test in India for an extended period. Gambhir highlighted that Kohli’s continued passion to excel is evident in his training, both in the nets and in the gym, comparing his dedication to that of a top-tier professional athlete.

According to Gambhir, this level of commitment is crucial for Kohli to maintain his status as one of the best in the world. The former cricketer further applauded Kohli’s preparations for the series, pointing out that maintaining this hunger for success is essential for his performance in the upcoming matches.

He believes that once Kohli finds his rhythm, he will continue to perform at the high level he’s known for, as he has done consistently throughout his career. Kohli’s impressive record against Bangladesh includes 437 runs at an average of 54.62, with two centuries, one of which was a 204-run innings in the 2017 Hyderabad Test.

Additionally, Gambhir mentioned that Kohli is likely looking forward to India’s tour of Australia later this year, a series that will offer him further opportunities to showcase his form.
