Team India batter Shubman Gill’s batting class was on display during the fourth Test of the 2023 Border Gavaskar Trophy on Saturday, March 11 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. He continued his purple patch this year, slamming a century in the first innings of the match.
Shubman Gill opened the innings for Team India with Rohit Sharma. The duo got India off to a good start. However, Rohit Sharma was dismissed in the first session on day three. Shubman continued to be the force of the batting attack. He and Cheteshwar Pujara put together a 113 runs partnership for the second wicket. In the sixty-second over, Shubman Gill swept Todd Murphy for a boundary to get to his hundred.
The Indian opener slammed twelve boundaries and a six in the innings. He was dismissed for 128 runs by Nathan Lyon. Shubman Gill stayed on the back foot and missed Nathan Lyon’s delivery, which hit him on the pads. He was adjudged lbw by the on-field umpire. The centurion walked back to the pavilion amid applause and a standing ovation from the crowd.
Shubman Gill departs after a fine knock of 128.
