Veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has regained fitness from his wrist injury and earned a recall to Australia’s squad for the final three T20Is against India. Cricket Australia (CA) also included pacers Ben Dwarshuis and Mahli Beardman, along with wicketkeeper-batter Josh Philippe, in the updated lineup. Meanwhile, frontline pacers Josh Hazlewood and Sean Abbott have been rested for the latter part of the five-match series, with their workloads being managed ahead of the 2025–26 Ashes.
Maxwell had earlier suffered a fractured wristduring a freak accident in the nets before the T20I series against New Zealand, which ruled him out of the Chappell-Hadlee Trophy following an impressive home campaign versus South Africa. Deemed unfit for the high-profile India series, the all-rounder was initially omitted from the touring squad. Cricket Australia confirmed the roster changes through an official announcement on Friday, October 24.
IN: Glenn Maxwell (games 3-5), Ben Dwarshuis (games 4-5), Josh Philippe (all games), Mahli Beardman (games 3-5).
OUT: Josh Hazlewood (after game 2), Sean Abbott (after game 3)
Australia have made a few tweaks to their ODI squad for the dead rubber in Sydney on Saturday, October 25. Marnus Labuschagne, who replaced the injured Cameron Green, has been released to play the Sheffield Shield for Queensland ahead of the Ashes. Meanwhile, Jack Edwards and Matthew Kuhnemann have been added to the squad, with Kuhnemann returning after missing the second ODI in Adelaide.
