Australia have produced some of the world-class batsmen since the inception of the game. They have gone onto to dominate the bowlers across the globe over the years. The likes of Greg Chappell, Mark Taylor, Allan Border, Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist, Matthew Hayden have graced the game over the last few decades.

In the modern-day cricket, Steve Smith, David Warner, and Marnus Labuschagne are keeping the rich line of batmen going. They have dominated the game and when on the song, is a nightmare to the bowlers from across the globe. Keeping in mind the rich flow of batsmen, it is difficult to pick one of the best among them.

Former Australia skipper and national selector Greg Chappell has picked Australia's greatest batsman after Sir Don Bradman. Chappell picked former skipper Ricky Ponting as the best batsman he has seen in his lifetime. Ponting retired from the game as Australia’s most decorated batsman as well as their most successful captain. In 168 Test matches, he amassed 13378 runs, second only to Sachin Tendulkar, as well as 13704 runs in ODIs, winning three World Cups, two as captain.

“Ricky Ponting is certainly the best Australian batsman I have seen in my lifetime,” Greg Chappell said at the charity dinner of The Chappell Foundation on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Ponting will return to India when he will reunite with Delhi Capitals in the upcoming Indian Premier League. After taking them into the playoff in the last two seasons, Ponting will be keen to guide the Capitals to their maiden title.
