The uncertainty surrounding the Gujarat Titans (GT) extends past the management team and into the training group with Ashish Nehra, the head coach dealing with an unsure future. There are speculations that CVC Capital, the present-day owner of the IPL team would possibly go through a massive change of the GT management before the mega auction later this year.
Reports indicate that the GT control, with administrative heads spread across the UK, Mumbai, and Singapore, is evaluating capacity changes to its group, which currently consists of Vikram Solanki as the director of cricket, Ashish Nehra as the head coach, and Gary Kirsten as the mentor and batting instruct.
Despite the achievement of the Nehra-Solanki-Kirsten trio, which led the team to an IPL title in 2022 and a runner-up finish in 2023, changes seem approaching. Gary Kirsten has already exited to enroll in the Pakistan team, raising questions about the destiny of the ultimate coaches.
Gujarat Titans didn’t have a great season in IPL 2024
While Solanki may retain his post, Nehra’s popularity is less stable. It is suggested that Nehra might also have precipitated some friction in the group, especially in the course of the 2023 season. Amidst this uncertainty, rumours are also swirling about a possible trade inside the franchise’s possession, with names like Torrent Pharma and the Adani Group being mentioned.
However, this kind of transition will probably wait till February next year due to the necessary 3-year lock-in duration for franchise stocks, meaning CVC Capital will probably oversee the team for at least one greater season, which includes the approaching auction in December. Meanwhile, modifications also are anticipated some place else within the IPL.
