The popular absence of team India‘s swashbuckling batter, Rinku Singh from the Men in Blue’s 2024 T20 World Cup became a topic of great discussion. He was named as a reserve player. However, his exclusion from the main roster raised eyebrows considering the left-handed batsman had performed well in this format.

Rinku Singh recently revealed how conversations took place between him and India’s skipper Rohit Sharma when it was declared that India was going to be participating in 2024’s T20 World Cup. In those talks, Sharma advised him to keep on working hard.

The left-handed batsman narrated that Sharma tried making him realize that he is too young hence; there are chances for him featuring in more upcoming World Cups. In an exclusive interview with News 24, Rinku said:

“Haan woh (Rohit Sharma) aaye the samjane ki koi baat nahi, teri umar hi 👋kya hai. World Cup aage bohot hai. Mehnat karte reh. Har do saal mein World Cup aata hai, uspe dhyaan de.”

”Koi dikaat nahi hai, pareshan mat ho [He came to me and made me understand that it was okay, you are quite young. There will be many many World Cups in the future. Keep on working hard. There is a World Cup every two years, focus on that. Don’t be disappointed].”

Rohit Sharma’s squad from India earned victory over South Africa in the title decider of the T20 World Cup slated for 2024 thus clinching the long-awaited trophy. As a result, India ended an 11-year-long ICC trophy famine.

“I respect Rohit Sharma’s captaincy” – Rinku Singh

During the aforementioned interview, Rinku Singh was requested to state his preferred captain. He said he admires Rohit Sharma’s style of leadership and also revealed that he is a supporter of Virat Kohli’s fierceness.

Rinku said: “I like Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. I like Virat Kohli as well because aggression is very important while leading a team. So, his captaincy was also very good. “

Currently, Rinku Singh is leading the Meerut Mavericks in the ongoing Uttar Pradesh Premier League season. On Sunday, August 25, they started their campaign by winning against Kashi Rudras in Lucknow by seven wickets.
