After star all-rounder, Ravindra Jadeja, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh will also miss the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) training camp at Chepauk Stadium. Incidentally, CSK is running a training camp from today until August 20 for the Indian players before leaving for UAE.
IPL franchises will start leaving for UAE after August 21 following BCCI’s directive. Meanwhile, the Super Kings will host a training camp at Chepauk before the team leaves for the UAE. Only Indian cricketers will attend the camp starting from August 15 to August 20.
Harbhajan Singh to miss training camp in Chennai
Heavyweight Indian cricketers like Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Piyush Chawla, and skipper MS Dhoni have already landed in Chennai yesterday. Raina and other cricketers shared images of themselves reuniting on social media.
However, Harbhajan Singh will give the training camp a miss. Fast bowler Shardul Thakur is also likely to miss the camp in Chennai. Speaking on the development, a source in the know-how of things told Times of India that they have some prior commitments. He also assured that the cricketers have already started training and will leave with the rest of the squad for UAE.
“Harbhajan and Thakur had a few personal commitments and we understand that. However, they have already started training on their own. So we aren’t worried about them missing our camp. They’re expected to join the camp on August 19,” he said.
Harbhajan Singh has been a shining star ever since he moved to Chennai Super Kings after his 10-year stint with Mumbai Indians. He has played 160 matches in the IPL, picking up 150 wickets at an average of 26.44, with the best bowling figures of five for 18. He has picked up seven wickets in his last five IPL appearances for CSK.
Meanwhile, IPL 2020 will commence from September 19 and will run until November 10. Dubai, Sharjah, and Abu Dhabi will host all the matches of the 13the edition of the cash-rich league.
