Harshit Rana, the pacer for Kolkata Knight Riders, has been fined his entire match fee and suspended for one game for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during the IPL match against Delhi Capitals at the Eden Gardens.
“Rana committed a Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offence and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” IPL said in a statement.
“The player was earlier penalised under the same level and article of the IPL Code of Conduct,” the statement added.
Previously, Rana received a 60% match fee fine for blowing a flying kiss to Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Mayank Agarwal during KKR’s inaugural home game.
KKR’s Harshit Rana was fined 60% for a similar offence, giving a flying-kiss send-off to the batter
On Tuesday, Rana deceived Abhishek Porel with a full-length delivery, toppling his stumps, and nearly repeated the flying kiss send-off gesture but instead gestured towards the dugout. Ultimately, KKR secured a seven-wicket victory over DC, fueled by Phil Salt’s aggressive 68 and Varun Chakravarthy’s impressive bowling figures of 3-16.
Chakravarthy, known for his mysterious spin, spearheaded Kolkata’s disciplined bowling effort, limiting DC to 153/9. Salt, in excellent form, guided the chase alongside Sunil Narine with an opening partnership of 79 runs, allowing the two-time champions to achieve their target with 3.3 overs remaining.
“Good to be contributing. Have had a good run in the home games. Nice that we’ve had continuity in conditions. Coming from the last game, to put in a performance like that from the bowlers, really pleased for them,” Salt said at the post-match presentation.
“So the thing is, the other pitches have been slow. This pitch was a little bit more turning. That was the difference. The length is basically the same for all the matches. It’s just how the wicket behaves. In other matches, it was not giving this much help but this wicket gave and helped our bowlers,” Chakravarthy said at the press conference after the game.
