India pacer Harshit Rana took to social media on Monday, February 9, to inform fans that he has successfully undergone surgery for a knee injury. The 24-year-old was last seen in action during India’s T20 World Cup 2026 warm-up game against South Africa on February 4 in Navi Mumbai, where he managed just one over, conceding 16 runs, before being forced to walk off the field.

Rana was later spotted with his knee heavily strapped as India sealed a 30-run victory. On February 6, the BCCI confirmed that the fast bowler had been ruled out of the remainder of the tournament due to the injury, with Mohammed Siraj drafted in as his replacement. The official statement said:

“Team India pacer Harshit Rana has been ruled out of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 after sustaining a knee injury during the warm-up match against South Africa in Navi Mumbai on February 4th 2026.”

“Following consultations with a specialist and subsequent scans, the BCCI medical team deemed him unfit to participate in the tournament. The team management wishes him a speedy recovery. Mohd. Siraj will join the team as Harshit’s replacement in the squad.”

On February 9, the Delhi-born pacer took to Instagram to post a photo from the hospital, accompanied by the caption:

“Surgery done right, now focused on recovery and getting back to what I love.”

Harshit Rana’s IPL 2026 Participation In Doubt After Injury

In addition to being sidelined from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2026, Harshit Rana’s availability for IPL 2026 remains uncertain. The tournament is scheduled to get underway on March 26, and the pacer is part of the three-time title holders Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).

On February 7, a report from RevSportz claimed:

“His participation in the 2026 IPL, too, is in doubt.”

The fast bowler has played 34 IPL games, all in KKR colours, and has picked up 40 wickets from 32 innings. He averages 25.72 with the ball, boasts a strike rate of 16.2, and goes at an economy of 9.51. Rana’s best return in the tournament stands at 3/24, and he played an important role in Kolkata Knight Riders’ title-winning campaign in 2024.
