Glenn Maxwell and Suryakumar Yadav can’t do anything wrong in the shortest format this year. He has scored 1164 runs at an average of 46.56 and a strike rate of 187.44. In the series versus New Zealand, he brought up his second century in T20IS, which is his second century this year. He scored 111 off 51 balls.
Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell reacts to the performance the Indian batter has played this year for his country. He was shocked to see the difference between the scores of Suryakumar Yadav and the other batters. Speaking on ‘The Grade Cricketer ‘, he said:
“I didn’t know the game was on. But I later checked the scorecard and sent the picture of that to Finchy (Aaron Finch) and said, ‘What is this guy doing? He is batting on a completely different planet! Look at the score of the others, and then he scores 111 off 50.'”
“I watched the replay of the innings the next day, and it’s embarrassing that he is so much better than everyone else. It’s almost hard to watch. He is better than anyone we have got.”
“We have to sack everyone, save the money and then hope he agrees” – Glenn Maxwell on Suryakumar Yadav
He also opened up about the innings he played versus South Africa at Perth in the recently concluded T20 World Cup.
“The innings that he played at Perth was one of the most ridiculous innings I have ever seen, having batted there a couple of days before that. Especially for an Indian to bat like that in those conditions and be so successful is just incredible.”
On being asked about the possibility of Suryakumar Yadav playing in the BBL, he replied in a hilarious manner, saying that they wouldn’t be able to afford him even if they let go off all their players and can hope that he is willing to play there.
“We won’t be able to afford Suryakumar Yadav in the Big Bash League even with all the money in our cap. We have to sack everyone, save the money and then hope he agrees,” he added.
