“He Is Not As Consistent As Babar Azam” -Aaqib Javed On Virat Kohli

Former Pakistani fast bowler Aaqib Javed has put forth a significant assertion regarding Virat Kohli, discussing the matter of consistency through a comparison with Babar Azam.

Javed expresses the viewpoint that Babar Azam’s consistency surpasses that of Kohli, stating that Kohli’s periods of high performance are limited and sporadic.

Babar and Kohli have emerged as leading all-format batsmen in the present era and are frequently subject to comparison.

While Kohli has solidified his status as a contemporary cricket icon through his impressive statistics, Babar is swiftly ascending by consistently surpassing the records set by his Indian counterpart.

In conversation with the domestic media, Javed conveyed that Kohli’s consistency is sporadic, unlike Babar’s, while expressing his support for Pakistan’s victory in the World Cup this year.

“If you compare Kohli with Babar, Kohli has a few seasons. He’ll have an outstanding one season, and then it will decline; he’s a great player in patches. But he is not as consistent as Babar Azam.”

“Babar, as captain, his spot is cemented, and the players want to listen to him. I think this is the best chance for Pakistan to win the World Cup

Kohli faced a long period of poor performance over the past two years. However, he made a comeback during the 2022 Asia Cup, where the 34-year-old regained his form and ended up as the tournament’s second-highest run-scorer, following Mohammad Rizwan.

“This time, Pakistan stands a strong opportunity”- Aaqib Javed

The ex-player expressed the view that Pakistan’s improved odds of winning the trophy this time stem from India entering a transitional phase:

“Many times you head into World Cup thinking this might be the last for a couple of players. This time I feel it is happening to India.”

“When stars become larger than life, it becomes difficult for team management to make decisions. That is why, by looking and comparing all the departments, Pakistan have a very good chance this time

In the meantime, the 2023 Asia Cup commences on August 30 in Multan, featuring Pakistan’s match against Nepal.
