Everyone is eagerly waiting to know whether Hardik Pandya will be the permanent T20I captain after Rohit. Still, it is possible to analyze the several cases in which Hardik has already exhibited leadership abilities. He has led India in 16 Twenty20 internationals, and of these, he has emerged victorious in 10 of them.

Also, Hardik has displayed his leadership skills by being given the arduous task of captaining India in three one-day internationals (ODIs) and leading GT to win the inaugural IPL 2022 championship.

In response to the rumors, BCCI secretary Jay Shah clarified the situation. Shah underlined that extensive deliberations with the selectors will precede any choice about the new captain.

He accepted the skepticism regarding Hardik’s form but emphasized that the selectors and the BCCI both had faith in him, and Hardik Pandya had shown them right with his performances. Shah underlined that the selectors’ comprehensive assessment would come before the official declaration about the captaincy.

“Captaincy will be decided by the selectors, and we will announce it after discussing with them. You asked about Hardik, there were a lot of questions over his form, but we and the selectors showed faith in him, and he proved himself,” said Shah as quoted by India Today.

Hardik Pandya’s captaincy was below standard for the Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024:

The Mumbai Indians, led by Hardik Pandya, finished bottom in the points table, indicating that his leadership was equally subpar. Nevertheless, he was picked by the selectors for the T20 World Cup 2024 squad and given the position of vice-captain despite his subpar performances.

In the T20 World Cup, Hardik transformed into a beast, proving the selectors correct. Throughout the competition, the all-around player scored 144 runs with a 48 average and an 1151.57 strike rate.

In addition, he had great skill with the ball and consistently delivered huge wickets. At an economy rate of 7.64 and an average of 17.36, he claimed 11 wickets.
