Yashasvi Jaiswal, the emerging star batter from India, is getting ready for an important time ahead of the forthcoming home season. The 22-year-old attributes his daring approach to the game to recently appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir.

Gambhir’s support during his debut Sri Lankan series as coach has had a significant effect on the team’s outlook. Taking advantage of the Duleep Trophy season, Jaiswal hopes to hone his abilities in preparation for India’s next Test series against Bangladesh and New Zealand.

Jaiswal feels sure that he can contribute significantly to the team’s success with Gambhir’s direction. Jaiswal is committed to seizing the chance to showcase his skill and establish his reputation on the global arena, with his goals set there.

“Yes, I have spoken with him during the Sri Lanka series. He really backed us saying just go out and play freely and enjoy the game and we will be with you. It gives us a lot of confidence and helps us to play fearlessly,” Jaiswal told PTI.

“I am working hard at nets”- Yashasvi Jaiswal

The rising star batsman for India, Yashasvi Jaiswal, claimed that he has been running hard yards in the nets to hone his skills ahead of the forthcoming home season. The 22-year-old believed that domestic competitions such as the Irani Trophy and Duleep trophy aid in providing adequate preparation for international games.

“I am working hard at nets ahead, first for the Duleep Trophy and then for the Bangladesh series. It’s not about setting personal goals, as you know in cricket you have to be consistent and keep working on your skills” Jaiswal told PTI.

“Domestic tournaments like Duleep Trophy and Irani Trophy are very important games and it gives me a lot of confidence and helps me prepare for those (international) games,” he said.

“I try to remain in my zone and contribute to the team’s winning cause. You get to learn a lot of things in tournaments like Duleep Trophy and it is very good for you to play such intense games ahead of a Test series,” he added.
