Australian skipper Pat Cummins has shared fresh information about the fitness of left-arm fast bowler Mitchell Starc for the final Test against India in Sydney. Starc continues to be given the medical all clear to feature within the match, which kicks off on January 3.

Cummins said he believes Starc will feature for Australia in the match, going on to add that it will take something big for the paceman to be left out. This is good news for the Australian team, as Starc is an important bowling asset of the team.

The inclusion of Starc means that Australia will be going for a strong side as they seek to end the series on a high note. As for the weather, it is predicted only a few showers and the last test should turn into a tough fight between two teams who play on their best level.

A significant update regarding Mitchell Starc has been released by Australian captain Pat Cummins in advance of the fifth and final Test match against India in Sydney, which starts on January 3. The right-arm speedster disclosed that Starc was given the all-clear for the match and that it would take a special circumstance for him to miss it.

Considering the significance of this match and the World Test Championship (WTC) final, Pat Cummins said during a press conference on Wednesday that Starc was essential. Perth Now cited the 31-year-old as saying:

“You always consider it, he went off for a scan yesterday. Got the all clear to play this match. There are always considerations. But it’s a big game in the context of the series and World Test Championship. He was never going to miss this one unless he absolutely had to.”

Virat Kohli was the sole wicket that Starc took throughout the MCG Test; on Day 5, he nickered one to dismiss the right-hander for five runs.
