Former Indian captain Virat Kohli was involved in a tense exchange with an Australian TV reporter at Melbourne airport ahead of the fourth Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 Test. This incident has reignited speculation about the cricketer’s potential move to London.

In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Kohli’s childhood coach, Rajkumar Sharma, shared insights into the cricketer’s future plans.

When asked about Virat’s intention to relocate to London with his family, Sharma’s response suggested that Kohli might settle in London with his wife, Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, and their children.

“Yes, Virat is planning to move to London. He’ll leave India very soon,” Rajkumar was quoted as saying by Dainik Jagran newspaper.

Virat Kohli’s potential move could be driven by his concerns about privacy for his family and children. As a prominent celebrity in India, he and his wife Anushka often face media intrusion, with their privacy being compromised.

Kohli has expressed his desire for people to refrain from taking photos or filming his children. The need to shield them from the spotlight at such a young age might be a significant factor behind his decision to relocate permanently to London with his family.

Rajkumar Sharma discusses Virat Kohli’s cricketing future

After Ravichandran Ashwin announced his retirement from international cricket following the Brisbane Test, Rajkumar Sharma was questioned about whether Virat Kohli might make a similar announcement soon.

Sharma, however, stated that Virat is in excellent physical condition and that retirement is not on the horizon. He further mentioned that Kohli could continue playing for the next five years and even sees him participating in the 2027 ODI World Cup for India.

“He’s got so much more to give to the game. I’ve known him since he was a kid, and I can say with confidence that there’s plenty of cricket left in him,” he concluded.
