The year 2018 would be the one that Prithvi Shaw would be cherishing for the rest of his life. Not just leading his under – 19 sides to the title, but his international debut came just months after the tournament.
A classy opener with a blend of destruction and calmness is what his mates have been describing him. Their words proved to be the same when he smashed a century in his maiden innings for India in the home series against West Indies.
The recent reports suggest that Prithvi isn”t completely fit for the Windies tour. A hip injury sustained in the month of May made him away from the game and he kept working on his fitness at NCA, Bangalore. This comes as a shocker as there were rumours that seniors would be rested for the Carribean tour.
This would be a golden opportunity lost for him and the BCCI would be looking forward to his quick recovery. It is worth noting that Shaw was scheduled to travel with the India A side for the West Indies tour which is happening right now.
“I”m still not a 100 per cent fit and don”t know exactly how much time it will take to recover, the process is going on. There is still time and I”m working with the physios. I can”t put a time frame on it right now,” said Shaw to few reporters of PTI.Â
It is to be noted that the Proteas will be touring India in late September and his availability will make wonders for the side in home conditions. Prithvi was even awarded the man of the series in last year after piling up a truckload of 237 runs in just three innings. When the entire World was anxious to see his performance in the Australian down under, he succumbed to an ankle injury and was apparently ruled out of the series.
