Here Is Why Amit Mishra Called Virat Kohli A Changed Man

Experienced leg-spinner Amit Mishra said that Virat Kohli has progressed notably from the start of his profession. Having played frequently with Kohli, Mishra stated that the Delhi cricketer has changed as he accrued wealth and reputation all through his career. Kohli initially took captaincy in the Test series in opposition to Australia in 2014-15, after MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket.

In 2017, Kohli also took over as captain of the ODI and T20I teams. Following the T20 World Cup in 2021, he began stepping down from captaincy in each format one by one. Mishra, who played 22 Tests, 36 ODIs, and 10 T20Is for India, compared the personalities of Virat and Rohit Sharma.

Mishra said that Rohit has stayed unchanged, whereas Kohli’s behaviour has altered significantly. He discussed these perspectives in a discussion with YouTuber Shubhankar Mishra on his show.

“We had nearly stopped communicating” – Amit Mishra on Virat Kohli

“I won’t lie. As a cricketer, I respect him a lot, but I don’t share the same equation with him as I used to. Why does Virat have less friends? His and Rohit’s natures are different.”

”I’ll tell you the best thing about Rohit. When I met him the first day and when I meet him today, he is the same person. So will you relate to him more or with someone who changes according to situation?” Mishra said.

“I have seen Virat change a lot. We had almost stopped talking. When you get fame and power, they think people are reaching out to them for a purpose. I was never one of those.”

“I have known Cheeku since the time he was 14, when he used to eat Samosas, when he needed Pizza every night. But there is a huge difference in the Cheeku I knew and Virat Kohli, the captain. Whenever he meets me, he is very respectful, but it’s obviously not the same anymore,” Mishra added.

Kohli recently stepped down from T20Is after India secured the T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the USA, where he earned honoured Player of the Match in the final in opposing to South Africa. Rohit and Kohli both are presently taking a time off after their hectic schedule that included the World Cup, IPL, and various bilateral series.
