How Has Virat Kohli Performed Last Time In ODIs At The Narendra Modi Stadium In Ahmedabad?

Senior Indian batter Virat Kohli will be eager to deliver a big knock when Team India faces England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, February 12. After missing the first ODI in Nagpur due to swelling in his right knee, the 36-year-old managed only five runs in the second match in Cuttack, edging behind off leg-spinner Adil Rashid.

With India already securing the three-match series 2-0, the hosts will hope Kohli finds form ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy. While the veteran batter has struggled in red-ball cricket recently, his ODI performances have also been inconsistent.

Before his low score in Cuttack, he endured a string of failures in Sri Lanka last year, failing to make a significant impact in all three matches. He has played nine matches, amassing 246 runs at an average of 27.33 and a strike rate of 83.38, including two half-centuries at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

His best performance at the stadium came against South Africa in February 2010, when he scored 57 off 71 balls in a match India lost by 90 runs. India’s most recent ODI at the venue was the 2023 World Cup final, where they suffered a defeat against Australia.

Virat Kohli contributed 54 runs off 63 balls before being bowled by Australian skipper Pat Cummins. Batting first, India was bundled out for 240. In response, Australia comfortably chased down the target in 43 overs, powered by Travis Head’s stunning 137-run knock.

Virat Kohli’s performance in Ahmedabad across different formats

Virat Kohli has played four Test matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, scoring 246 runs in five innings at an impressive average of 61.50. His highest score at the venue is 186, which he registered against Australia in March 2023.

In T20Is, the former Indian captain has featured in six matches at the Ahmedabad stadium, amassing 258 runs at an outstanding average of 86 and a strike rate of 144.13. Notably, during the T20I series against England in March 2021, Kohli delivered three unbeaten knocks in Ahmedabad—73* off 49 balls, 77* off 46, and 80* off 52.
