Currently placed seventh, they have accumulated eight points from 10 matches, winning four and losing six. Qualifying for the playoffs will be an uphill battle for PBKS. In the past two seasons, teams needed a minimum of 16 points to secure a spot in the top four. With only four matches remaining in the league stage, PBKS will need to win all of them to reach the coveted 16-point mark.

Playoff Hopes Hang in the Balance: PBKS’ Run Rate Crucial in Tight IPL 2024 Race
Even then, they must ensure a strong run rate to stand a chance of making it to the playoffs. The situation becomes even more precarious considering the competition. If PBKS were to lose just one of their remaining matches, their playoff aspirations could be dashed. Even finishing with 14 points might not be enough, as there are already teams with higher point totals, making qualification unlikely.
PBKS’s remaining fixtures in IPL 2024 include matches against CSK (May 5), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) (May 9), Rajasthan Royals (May 15), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (May 19). These matches will be crucial for PBKS as they seek to secure victories and improve their position in the standings.
In summary, PBKS’s recent win against CSK was a significant step forward, but they still face an uphill battle to qualify for the IPL 2024 playoffs. With their remaining matches becoming increasingly crucial, PBKS will need to deliver strong performances to keep their playoff hopes alive.
