“I Can’t Question Anybody’s Intention”- Shan Masood Responds To Match-Fixing Rumors In Pakistan Cricket

In response to the accusations of match-fixing directed at Pakistan’s players following their recent underwhelming performances, Test skipper Shan Masood has responded forcefully and strongly. Shan Masood made it clear that Pakistan’s present setup does not engage in match-fixing.

Pakistan is now getting ready for the two Tests that the two sides will play in their home Test series against Bangladesh. Before the series, Masood was questioned about whether Pakistani players were involved in match-fixing.

Masood responded to the question by saying that he couldn’t question anyone’s motivations inside the team because everyone is there to help Pakistan win games. He added that while everyone wants to win games for Pakistan, they must improve on previous performances.

“I can’t question anybody’s intention as you used the word match fixing. I don’t think in the current setup of Pakistan cricket, nobody can question their integrity. It’s something which I don’t agree with at all. Secondly, world cup is past now and we need to look forward. I can guarantee all our players want to win matches for Pakistan but wins and losses are there and we’re the saddest whenever we lose,” said Masood in the pre-match press conference.

Shan Masood, the captain of Pakistan’s cricket team, added that his country will try to play a different style of cricket in the Tests. He asserted that watching a brand like this play will be thrilling for the spectators.

“We have tried to change the mindset of playing test cricket. We will try to play such a brand of cricket which brings wins to Pakistan and makes Pakistani fans happy as well,” Shan Masood said.

At Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, Pakistan and Bangladesh will play a two-match Test series beginning on August 21. The Pakistan Cricket Board named Saud Shakeel the vice-captain and unveiled a 17-man roster. Mohammad Ali and Naseem Shah will rejoin the Test team. Amidst political turmoil, Bangladesh will go to Pakistan four days ahead of schedule to be ready for the series.
