Axar Patel, India’s ace all-rounder, spoke about the over against Imad Wasim and how he outfoxed him during India’s T20 World Cup 2024 match against Pakistan on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Axar was the unsung hero of India’s epic victory by six runs, finishing with economical bowling stats of 2-0-11-1.

Chasing a relatively low target of 120, Pakistan was 80-3 after 14 overs when Bumrah cannoned a ball into the stumps to knock Pakistan’s leading scorer, Mohammad Rizwan for 31. He took Iftikhar Ahmed’s wicket with the final ball of a fantastic spell.

After knocking India out for 119 in 19 overs, Pakistan were limited to 113-7 in 20 overs in the low-scoring thriller. India’s six-run victory sent Pakistan, the 2022 runners-up, to the verge of elimination from the group stage.

This time in New York, Chahal TV made a comeback, with Yuzvendra Chahal welcoming the Indian players who excelled in the exciting triumph in the IND vs. PAK match in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Chahal spoke with Axar Patel, Rishabh Pant, and Mohammed Siraj. Known for his sharp mind, Chahal inquired about the players’ performances during a lighthearted and humorous conversation. It was a fun and humorous talk, and someone asked Axar about the pivotal over against Wasim.

The plan was to not bowl in his range, as it was windy, so I didn’t want him to hit six in the mid-wicket. That’s why I spoke to the captain & told him that I needed a point so that I could put it in the cut because the shot was also very difficult, it’s okay if it’s hit, otherwise, it was very difficult. That’s why I tried that,” Axar said in the video posted by the BCCI on their social media handle.

It was the second-lowest score ever successfully defended in the men’s T20 World Cup. It was India’s lowest total ever defended in a full T20 international, and it enabled the team to improve its record to 7-1 in T20s versus Pakistan.
