Team India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur opened up on her temperamental outburst during the third ODI against Bangladesh last month in Dhaka. She shared that she doesn’t regret the incident as she has a right to express herself and did not say anything wrong to any of the players.
Harmanpreet Kaur has been handed a two-match ban after her outburst in the third India-Bangladesh ODI last month. She smashed the stumps to express disapproval over the umpire’s decision to give her out. She also slammed the umpiring in the post-match presentation.
Harmanpreet hinted that the umpires had a role to play in Bangladesh’s win. The Bangladesh skipper boycotted the photoshoot with Team India following Harmanpreet’s outburst. Speaking to The Cricket Paper about the incident, Harmanpreet was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo,
“I will not say that I regret anything because at the end of the day as a player you want to see that fair things are happening. As a player, you always have the right to express yourself and what you’re feeling. I don’t think I said anything wrong to any player or any person. I just said what happened on the field. Don’t regret anything,” she added.
Harmanpreet Kaur to miss first two matches of Asian Games 2023
Harmanpreet will be leading the Indian women’s cricket team that will feature in the Asian Games in Hangzhou. However, she will miss India’s first two games of the tournament due to her suspension. Smriti Mandhana will lead the team in her absence. The ICC handed Harmanpreet a suspension for two international games over two separate breaches of the ICC Code of Conduct.
