The BCCI has announced its Indian men’s and Women’s Cricket Teams for the prestigious Asian Games tournament to be played in Hangzhou.
Asian Games will see both Indian men’s and women’s teams take part in the T20I format. The men’s edition would take place from 28th September to 8th October while the women’s section would start from 19th September to 28th September 2023 at the Zhejiang University of Technology Pingfeng Cricket field.
It will be the first time that the Indian men would be taking part in the prestigious tournament. Cricket at Asian Games was held during the 2010 and 2014 editions. Indian women’s and men’s teams did not part in both editions. Both squads would be looking to help the country win medals against other Asian countries like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan competing in the tournament.
Indian men’s team
The Indian men’s team will be led by Ruturaj Gaikwad. He has led Maharashtra in the domestic tournament and would look to showcase his talent. Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Verma has been named in the squad. After his exploits with KKR, Rinku Singh has been in the Indian squad.
Jitesh Sharma would be the wicketkeeper for this prestigious tournament. Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Shivam Dube have been named as all-rounders. Ravi Bishnoi, Washington Sundar, and Shahbaz Ahmed would lead the spin bowling department. Prabhsimran Singh would be the second wicketkeeper.
Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, and Avesh Khan will lead the pace bowling department. All these players did well in IPL 2023.
Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharsan have been named as standby for the tournament in case of injuries.

Indian Women’s Team
The Indian women’s Cricket has a strong unit that can clinch the first gold medal during Asian Games 2023. Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the side along with experienced players like Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, Amanjot Kaur.
India’s Under Champion Titas Sidhu also makes the cut in the squad. Royal Challengers Bangalore player Kanika Ahuja also makes a cut for the prestigious Asian Games 2023. Devika Vaidya, Anjali Sarvani, Rajeshwari Gayakwad.
Harleen Deol, Kashvee Gautam, Sneha Rana, Saika Ishaque, and Pooja Vastkar have been named as stand-by players for the tournament.
