Dinesh Karthik has set the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 alight with breathtaking performances everything he has gone out to bat. Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has found an able replacement for AB de Villiers in Karthik, who is doing it for them match after match.
On Saturday, the 36-year-old single-handed drowned Delhi Capitals (DC) with a terrific batting display. He scored an unbeaten 66 off just 34, including five boundaries and sixes each to propel RCB from 92/5 to 189/5 in just 8.3 overs.

After a couple of below-par seasons with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Dinesh Karthik has reinvented himself in the Bangalore colours. The veteran cricketer admits that he has bigger goals with the T20 World Cup slated to take place in Australia in a few months’ time.
“I must admit that I have a bigger goal and have been working really hard. I have been trying to do everything to be a part of the Indian team,” Karthik said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
Dinesh Karthik has now smashed 197 runs in six games at an average of 197 and a strike rate of almost 210. He has remained unbeaten on five occasions in the ongoing 15th edition of the cash-rich league.
“Positions and calmness come from preparations” – Dinesh Karthik
Having worked for this tournament for the last four months, Dinesh Karthik needed a platform to prove that he has not just finished yet. Hence, he grabbed the opportunity to don the finisher’s hat for the Bangalore franchise.
When asked about how he manages to stay calm and at the same moment unleashes some powerful strokes, Karthik asserted that staying in the moment helps him a lot. He concluded:
“When you are batting at the death, you try and get under the ball more while hitting. You make me sound like a serial killer (laughs). I must admit positions and calmness comes from preparations. Apart from that staying in the moment sounds cliched but it works,” he concluded.
With this victory, RCB have jumped to the third spot in the IPL 2022 points table with four wins in six matches.
