“I Reckon He Attacks A Bit More Than I Did” – Adam Gilchrist On Rishabh Pant’s Bold Style Of Play In Test Cricket

Adam Gilchrist noted that Rishabh Pant plays significantly more aggressively than he did in his own Test career. The former New South Wales player also indicated that Pant strikes a balance between attacking and defending based on the circumstances.

Gilchrist was an Australian cricketer who played in 96 Test matches and made 5570 runs at an average of 47.60 with a strike rate of 81.95. He was known for his aggressive batting style that resulted to the left-handed batsman making even his highest score of 204 while batting at number seven.

Speaking on Cricket.com, the former Aussie cricketer labeled Pant ‘fearless.’

“I reckon he attacks a bit more than I did. I played an aggressive brand at that time, but Rishabh, he looks fearless. What I do like is that he occasionally puts a foot on the brake and absorbs a bit of pressure. So he’s a class act,” Gilchrist said (via India Today).

In the past two years, Rishabh Pant has emerged as one of India’s most significant match winners, contributing significantly to the team’s consecutive series victories against Australia. The southpaw has scored Test centuries in three different countries: Australia, South Africa and England.

“He understands how to approach a serious matter in a lighthearted manner”- Adam Gilchrist comments on Rishabh Pant

The 52-year-old said that Rishabh Pant’s gameplay and sense of humor make spectators glued to their seats, making him inspiring among the people who want to have fun while doing things. In addition, Gilchrist noted during this interview:

“He is, what you say, bums on seats and people pay money well and truly. I would happily pay money to watch him play cricket.”

“So that’s a great quality to have, I think, if people are acknowledging in that manner because he gets the results, he’s a winner and a survivor, as we know. He’s all class in everything he does. He’s good fun, he’s got the humour. He knows how to go about a very serious business in a fun way.”

On the first day of the Test match with Bangladesh held at Chennai, the Indian youngster managed to notch up an audacious total of 39 runs.
