Travis Head, a left-handed Australian cricketer, who has been part of the all formats for three years has shared his T20 batting mantra. Since the previous year, Head has secured a place in Australia’s Test and ODI teams and has become the first choice player for T20I competition. Moreover, he has smashed five fifties in 20 T20I innings since 2023 with mind-boggling strike rate of 175 and wonderful average of 37.

This year, Head made an impressive start in T20 cricket that showcased his aggressive batting style. Because he can score quickly and consistently enough, he is now a vital part of Australian side.

Head’s success can be linked to his unambiguous batting credo, which has helped him prosper in the game’s shortest format. Head will undoubtedly continue to be an important member of Australia’s T20 cricket team as long as he plays with aggression and skill.

“We were trying to use the pace on the ball”- Travis Head

In the first Twenty20 International against England on September 11, Travis Head, the opener for Australia, displayed his aggressive batting approach after winning Player of the Match. In the first game of the series, Head revealed that his strategy is to attack the ball at the outset of the inning. He carried this out flawlessly.

“Nice start, bowled well at the start, got one away, set a platform… I was trying to acclimatise to a wicket with pace, hitting good shots and Shorty got a cracking start. Good partnership to start the series well. We’ve played at the Strikers, a consistent theme at the top, we can all play that,” Head said.

“We were trying to use the pace on the ball. Guys have been playing together for the last couple of years. The coach and captain want me to bat freely. I try to whack it every time,” Head added.

The second Twenty20 International will be played in Cardiff on Friday.
