Virat Kohli, who brought his 71st international hundred on Thursday, dedicated the milestone to his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika. Kohli amassed 122 runs off just 61 deliveries to help the Men in Blue set a 213-run target for Afghanistan in Dubai.
Incidentally, Kohli had been under increasing pressure over the last few months for his lean patch. Some experts even questioned his place in the shortest, as his strike-rate was not among the best in recent times.
Many even urged the team management to drop him from the T20I side. Virat Kohli, who answered his critics in style, thanked his wife Anushka Sharma for standing by his side through thick and thin.

He dedicated the knock to his wife and daughter. Speaking at the mid-innings break, he said:
“There was a lot of stuff going around. You can see all that is happening because of how one person has stood by me through thick and thin and that is Anushka. I want to specially dedicate this hundred to her and our daughter Vamika.”
“When you have someone next to you, putting things into right perspective, like Anushka has been by my side, it teaches you a lot of things,” Virat Kohli added.
I was a bit shocked: – Virat Kohli on his 71st ton
Virat Kohli admitted that he did not expect to score his 71st international ton in the T20I format, which is why he was a little shocked after achieving the feat.
“I was a bit shocked because this was the format I was least expecting to get a hundred in. This is a moment that is very special for me and the team as well,” said Kohli.
