Indian captain Rohit Sharma spoke about eating Barbados dirt after the victory of his team on Saturday in the ICC T20 World Cup. India’s match, titled The Drought to Win the ICC Trophy, ended more than ten years ago when the team led by southpaw Rohit Sharma beat South Africa by a comfortable margin of seven runs.
Playing in the final at Barbados on Saturday, India outperformed South Africa, giving them a target of 170 to chase where the latter managed only 163, and hence the Indian team clinched the second International Cricket Council T20 World Cup. The win was paved by the excellent death bowling shown by Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, besides brilliant batting by Virat Kohli and Axar Patel.
“You know… I was feeling the moment when I went to the pitch because that pitch gave us this. We played on that particular pitch and we won the game, that particular ground as well” Rohit Sharma said.
“I will remember that ground forever in my life and that pitch as well. So I wanted to have a piece of it with me. So yeah, those moments are very, very special. And the place where all our dreams came true, I wanted something of it. That was the feeling behind it,” he concluded.

Speaking candidly about the Men in Blue’s second ICC T20 World Cup championship victory, Indian captain Rohit Sharma stated that he wants to savor every moment to the utmost and that the emotion has not yet really set in.
In a video released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Rohit expressed that, given the team’s prolonged efforts, winning the championship felt unbelievable and unreal.
“Yeah, the feeling is actually surreal. I would still say it has not sunk in totally. It has been a great moment. Right from when the game was over until now, it feels like a dream. We still feel that it has not happened. Although it has happened, it feels like it has not happened. That is the emotion; that’s the feeling that you have. We have dreamt about this for such a long period of time,” Rohit Sharma said.
“We worked hard as a unit for such a long period of time and to see this now with us feels quite, you know, relieved as well, because when you work hard for something and you eventually get it at the end, it feels nice. Last night, I mean, we were having a good time,” Rohit Sharma added.
The format’s top scorer, 37-year-old Rohit Sharma, has scored 4231 runs in 159 games for India, including five hundreds. His victory on Saturday marked his second T20 World Cup triumph; he had won the competition’s first one in 2007.
