The decision for the replacement rests with the team”s medical representative. However, the like-to-like replacement of the injured player is subject to the approval of the match referee. It is to be noted that the use of concussion substitutes was already used at the domestic level in Australia since 2017. This period was used as a test phase and now the ICC is going to implement on a bigger stage.

Some modifications have also been done to the existing slow over rate rules. While it was only the skipper who was held responsible for such offences, from now the entire team will be fined in case of delay. The skippers will no more be cautious of the suspension incase of slow over rates in consecutive matches.
