ICC grants International status in T20″s to all the cricketing nations across the world. In the press conference arranged by Dave Richardson, the CEO of ICC, mentioned that he takes huge privilege in granting the T20 international status to all the 104 countries.
“All Women”s team matches will be awarded T20 International status on July 1st, 2018. All the men”s team matches will be given T20 International status on January 1st, 2019,” said Richardson.
A few months back, ICC gave full member status to Ireland and Afghanistan that made them eligible to play the longest format of the game. With this decision, the prominence of cricket in most of the countries is expected to increase exponentially.
Dave also said that some “severe” penalties will be imposed for ball tampering and other sledding activities on the field. He said “We want penalties, fines are not proving to be an answer. We want cricket committee to review current penalties and come to us with recommendations. We”re planning to get the likes of Allan Border, Shaun Pollock on the committee”.
It is to be noted that the above point came into notice after the controversial series between Australia and South Africa when the trio of Smith, Warner, and Bancroft used a sandpaper to aid reverse swing.
All ICC member nations are to receive T20I status and the 2021 Champions Trophy is to be replaced with a World T20 in the approved 2019-23 Future Tours Programme.

Dave also mentioned that the 2021 ICC champions trophy will be most likely replaced by the T20 World cup.
He also put forward the efforts being taken on the inclusion of the gentleman”s game into the Olympics. He mentioned “”If we can get all of the cricket united in a desire to be a part of Olympics, I think we have a good chance of persuading International Olympic Committee that Cricket is a sport that can add value to the Olympics.”
These announcements made the press conference interesting and the fans are overwhelmed with this decision from ICC.
