Australia

Australia will look to consolidate its position as it faces the Netherlands at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi on 25 October 2023. The Aussies are coming off with a resounding 62-run victory over Pakistan and would look to prove their domination over the Netherlands.

On the other hand, the Netherlands looked in deep trouble at 91 for 6 before the lower order helped them to post 262 but could not register the victory. Australia looks like the favorite to win the match and gain valuable points. The Netherlands would make a match out of it and hope for another impressive performance.

Here we look at the 5 Players To Watch Out For

  1. David Warner

David Warner returned to form with a smashing 163 runs against Pakistan at Bengaluru. He was dropped early by Usama Mir and then advantage of the batting conditions.

He smashed the Pakistani bowlers all over the park and displayed attacking shots which led Australia to lay a strong foundation for a big total. The dashing Warner would look to continue his superb form in tomorrow’s match.

His role is to provide an attacking start in the first 10 overs that would help Australia dominate the Netherlands and register a victory.

  1. Colin Ackermann

Colin Ackermann looked impressive with some of his shots in the previous match against Sri Lanka. Coming at number 3, he would be looking to impress with top quality bowling lineup comprising Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Adam Zampa.

He will look to prove his worth with a lovely knock against the Australian bowling and help lay a decent foundation for Netherlands to build on. His ability to play aggressive shots makes him a good batter.

The condition at New Delhi promises to be a good batting pitch which will allow Ackermann to put pressure on Aussies bowling.

  1. Pat Cummins

The Australian captain Pat Cummins had a decent outing against Pakistan. Despite giving runs, he bowled with great control and did not allow the batters to score runs freely. His bowling looked impressive picking 2 wickets giving away 62 runs in 7.3 overs.

Cummins got the big wicket of Saud Shakeel denting Pakistan’s chances of chasing 368. He then finished off the innings by dismissing Shaheen Shah Afridi. His role is to pick wickets putting pressure on the Netherlands batting to gain confidence ahead of the big matches.

His bowling struggled for rhythm that helped the batters to score runs easily. Cummins would be eager to prove his worth with a good spell against Dutch batting before the big matches against England, and New Zealand.

  1. Scott Edwards

The Netherlands captain Scott Edwards got a start in the previous match but could not convert it into a big score against Sri Lanka. He looked in decent touch putting the deliveries for boundaries. The Netherlands looked in deep trouble losing wickets on a pitch that had some movement for pacers.

Edwards has a key role to play in the middle order putting pressure on Australian bowlers keeping the scoreboard and helping Netherlands keep momentum going. He will look to play attacking strokes against top-quality bowling.

The Netherlands will rely on Scott Edwards to provide stability if the top order fails to deliver the goods. It would be a big test for him to score runs against the Australian bowling lineup.

  1. Adam Zampa

The leg spinner proved his worth again with his 2nd four-wicket haul against Pakistan. He bowled with great control dismissing Pakistan captain Babar Azam cheaply. Zampa then dismissed Iftikhar Ahmed and Mohammad Rizwan to dent the opponent.

It was a brilliant bowling effort by Zampa picking up 4 wickets for 53 runs in his 10 overs. With the Netherlands not able to play spin properly, he would play a key role in picking wickets in middle overs that will create enough doubts.

Zampa would look to continue his impressive performance against the Netherlands and help Australia register their 3rd victory in the tournament.
