ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Big Update Comes Up On Hardik Pandya’s Injury

Hardik Pandya might be ready for India’s 2023 World Cup match against England on October 29 in Lucknow. According to a source, the ankle injury that kept him out of Sunday’s match against New Zealand in Dharamshala was merely a sprain and not a serious issue.

Pandya injured his left ankle while trying to field a ball during the match against Bangladesh, underwent scans, and was sent to the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore for a specialist doctor’s evaluation from London, which had initially raised concerns about a long-term injury.

“It is only a sprain and nothing serious,” the source said. “He should be available for selection in the Lucknow match.”

Pandya plays a crucial role in India’s starting lineup. He’s considered a finisher in the lower order, often alongside Ravindra Jadeja, and he can contribute with 10 overs of bowling. Having him in the team provides India with a better overall balance and the option of a sixth bowling choice.

According to the same report, the team will take a two-day break in Dharamshala before heading to Lucknow on October 25. This one-week interval between matches is the longest they’ve had in the tournament. Following their four-wicket victory over New Zealand on Sunday, India remains the sole undefeated team in the competition.

India didn’t feel the absence of Hardik Pandya in the match against New Zealand

India managed well without Hardik Pandya against New Zealand due to the team’s skills and a touch of good luck. Team India played the match with only five bowlers, but Mohammed Shami, one of them, did a great job by taking five wickets.

There were moments when they wished they had another bowler, but everyone worked together to handle the situation. In batting, Suryakumar Yadav was run out, but Virat Kohli did an excellent job in finishing the game.
