Maxwell’s remarkable performance has garnered praise from cricket fans and experts, as he played one of the most exceptional innings in the history of the ODI World Cup. His teammate at Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Virat Kohli, was also deeply impressed by Maxwell’s innings and showered him with compliments.

Maxwell led Australia to the semi-finals
Maxwell scored an undefeated 201 runs from 128 balls, securing a three-wicket victory for his team. Maxwell’s remarkable double century, featuring 21 fours and 10 sixes, secured a historic victory for Australia over Afghanistan in Mumbai and earned them a spot in the semi-finals of the tournament.
In the match, Afghanistan decided to bat first after winning the toss and set a competitive target of 292 runs. Ibrahim Zadran played a pivotal role for Afghanistan, making an impressive, unbeaten 129 runs from 143 balls.
It’s worth noting that he achieved a significant milestone, becoming the first Afghan batsman to score a century in an ODI World Cup. Afghanistan’s bowlers did well in the beginning, getting four Australian batters out early.
But then, when Glenn Maxwell came in to bat, Australia was in a very tough situation with only 49 runs for the loss of 4 wickets. Things looked even worse when they lost 7 wickets for just 91 runs. However, Maxwell made a great comeback, and Australia managed to reach the target with 19 balls left. For Afghanistan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Azmatullah Omarzai, and Rashid Khan each took two wickets.
