India captain Rohit Sharma continued his sublime form in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup and played a sensational knock against arch-rivals Pakistan. The match was played in Ahmedabad and Team India registered yet another win and maintained their winning streak of 8-0 against Pakistan in the ODI World Cup as well.
However, Rohit has once again made a few records with his stunning 86-run knock which came off 63 balls with 6 fours and as many sixes.

Rohit Sharma’s six-hitting ability is well known and he became only the third batter overall to smash 300 sixes in ODIs. Rohit achieved the remarkable feat during the high voltage match against Pakistan when he tonked Haris Rauf over mid-on for his 300th six at the packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on October 14, 2023.
Rohit joins Chris Gayle and Shahid Afridi as the only players to have hit 300 sixes in ODIs. He is also the only player to have scored three double-centuries in ODIs. Rohit’s achievement is a testament to his incredible power-hitting ability and his consistency at the highest level. Rohit’s six-hitting ability has been on full display in the 2023 Cricket World Cup. He has hit 16 sixes in the tournament so far, the most by any player. He has also scored two centuries and three half-centuries in the tournament.

Rohit’s 300th six in ODIs came in his 241st ODI match. He is the fastest player to reach the 300-six mark in ODIs, breaking Shahid Afridi’s previous record of 264 matches. Rohit’s achievement is a proud moment for Indian cricket. He is one of the greatest batsmen of all time and his 300th six in ODIs is a fitting tribute to his brilliance.
#2. Rohit Sharma hit 5 or more sixes in an ODI World Cup innings
Rohit Sharma took on the Pakistani bowling attack pretty well and smashed a total of six sixes on Saturday as well. In the process, he became the Indian player to hit five or more sixes in an ODI World Cup innings the most times as well. He has achieved the feat thrice, while the batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar did it twice. Moreover, he has tied with swashbuckling batters Chris Gayle and AB de Villiers, who also hit five or more sixes in an ODI World Cup game thrice as well.
#3. Rohit Sharma breaks Virat Kohli’s record and becomes the highest scorer vs Pakistan in an ODI World Cup match
Indian captain Rohit Sharma could become the first Indian to hit an ODI World Cup century against Pakistan as a captain but he was dismissed for 86 on Saturday, However, with his 86-run knock, he broke a crucial record made by former India captain Virat Kohli.
He has now become the highest individual score by an Indian captain against Pakistan in an ODI World Cup match. He surpassed Virat Kohli, who had earlier topped the chart with a score of 77, which he made at the 2019 ODI World Cup in Manchester as well.
Overall, his 86-run knock is now the third-highest individual score by a captain against Pakistan in the marquee event after William Porterfield’s 107 and Martin Crowe’s 91 as well.
