ICC Cricket World Cup 2023: Reports- Hardik Pandya’s Scan Results Are Being Forwarded To A Specialist In Mumbai For Further Evaluation

During the 2023 ODI World Cup league stage match at Pune’s Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Team India’s versatile player, Hardik Pandya, unfortunately suffered an ankle injury.

Pandya hurt his ankle as he attempted to block the ball with his foot while following through. This happened in the ninth over of the match. Although he initially stood up after receiving medical attention, he couldn’t put much weight on his foot and had to exit the field.

Pandya bowled just three balls in the match before undergoing scans. The scan results will be forwarded to a specialist in Mumbai, and the next steps will depend on the specialist’s advice.

Pandya was ready to bat in the second innings, but it wasn’t necessary as India comfortably won the match by seven wickets, thanks to Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who finished the game with over eight overs remaining.

“We’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning and then plan how to go forward” – Rohit Sharma thoughts on Hardik Pandya’s injury

India deployed Virat Kohli to complete the over that Hardik Pandya couldn’t finish due to his injury. Shardul Thakur also bowled nine overs as the team’s fifth bowler. When asked about Pandya’s condition in the post-match presentation, Rohit Sharma commented:

“He pulled up a bit sore, nothing really major to worry about. We’ll see how he feels tomorrow morning and then plan how to go forward.”

KL Rahul, who took a fantastic catch to dismiss Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the first innings, was asked about the injury in a post-match conversation at the venue. He responded:

“I just saw him in the dressing room now. The medical team should have some updates, perhaps tonight or I don’t know.”

Team India’s next match is set for Sunday, October 22, at the Himachal Pradesh Association Stadium in Dharamshala, where they will take on New Zealand.
