In the team’s second-to-last league-stage match against South Africa at Kolkata’s Eden Gardens on a Sunday, Rohit Sharma, the captain of Team India, displayed his full form.

He chose to bat after winning the toss and made his intentions clear by elegantly hitting a boundary over the covers off the very first over bowled by Lungi Ngidi.

The star batsman exhibited a relentless drive, showing no intention of slowing down as he quickly shifted into top gear.

After the first five overs, with the score at 61-0, South African captain Temba Bavuma decided to make a bowling change and brought in Kagiso Rabada. Rabada quickly gained control, delivering three consecutive dot balls.

Rohit Sharma attempted to take on Rabada after getting the strike via a leg bye. He stepped forward and made contact with a full delivery, but couldn’t get the desired elevation.

Bavuma, positioned at a wide mid-off, took the catch. In the 2023 World Cup, India’s captain Rohit Sharma has scored 442 runs with an average of 55.25 and a strike rate of 122.77.

The match is finished, and India won by a huge 243 runs! Kuldeep Yadav took the final wicket, and South Africa scored only 83 runs. India’s bowling was outstanding and overwhelmed one of the best batting teams in the tournament.
