Virat Kohli, a famous Indian cricketer, faced an unusual situation during the 2023 World Cup match against England in Lucknow on Sunday, October 29. It was the first time he didn’t score any runs in a World Cup game, and it was also his first time getting no runs in a One Day International (ODI) match since February 2022.
David Willey, an English bowler, was making the ball move in tricky ways, which made it tough for Kohli. Kohli hit a ball really well towards the field, but Dawid Malan, an English player, made a fantastic stop to prevent what could have been a certain boundary.
This increased the pressure on Virat Kohli, who attempted to step forward and hit Willey over the mid-off area. Unfortunately, the ball bounced a bit more than expected, causing Kohli to send it into the hands of the fielder Ben Stokes rather than hitting it over him.
Willey was understandably excited because Kohli’s wicket was a significant one. You can watch the video here:

India requires a new key player to take charge after losing Virat Kohli’s wicket
Kohli has possibly been India’s top batsman in the 2023 World Cup, scoring 354 runs in five innings leading up to the game against England. His key contribution has been stabilizing India’s innings during their chases.
But with Kohli out, India now relies on their captain Rohit Sharma and the lower-order batsmen to perform well and help India reach a competitive score.
