Team India’s fielder coach T Dilip hosted the ‘Best Fielder Medal’ ceremony for the last time in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 following the final against Australia on Sunday, November 19 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The dressing room did not look in great spirits as they lost the final by six wickets. However, the fielding coach continued the medal tradition to cheer up the team.
Veteran batter Virat Kohli won the Best Fielder Medal for his brilliant catch to dismiss David Warner. Mohammed Shami bowled a good length delivery, which angled into the left-hander. Warner tried to cut the ball, but it took the edge and flew to Virat Kohli at slips. The Australian opener had to walk back to the hut for seven runs. Ravindra Jadeja presented the medal to Virat Kohli in the dressing room.
“I appreciate and thank every player in this group who have committed in the practice sessions. The way you put yourself on the line, you put intent, energy. I couldn’t ask more than this. Well done!” said T Dilip.
“I see only growing up as a team on the field and today’s winner, he’s been a terrific player. He sets himself up great standards and every time he goes on the field he just does magic. And the best part is that he not only dies his job so well but his actions inspire so may people and it is none other than Virat Kohli,” he added.
