Australia, the five-time world champions, have revealed their jersey for the upcoming ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell showcased the new kit, featuring the First Nations design.
The Australian team is presently in India for a three-match ODI series, starting in Mohali on September 22. After the series, both teams will meet in their first World Cup 2023 match at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8.
Cricket.com.au posted a video on Friday featuring Maxwell in Australia’s 2023 ODI World Cup jersey. During the reveal, the all-rounder also expressed his thoughts on the kit, stating:
“It is very typical, of our probably previous couple of World Cup kits. Extremely Australian gold, nice bit of indigenous design on the side as well. So it looks really good really clean.”

The ODI series against India signifies Maxwell’s return, as he had to miss the South Africa tour due to an ankle problem, which was linked to an injury he suffered the previous year.
Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Starc will be absent for the first ODI against India
In addition to Maxwell, captain Pat Cummins, Steve Smith, and Mitchell Starc have rejoined the Australian squad after missing the South Africa series. However, Cummins stated that Maxwell and Starc will be unavailable for the first ODI in Mohali.
“Starc is here, (but) he won’t play tomorrow [Friday]. But hopefully, he will be available later on the series. Yeah, he won’t play tomorrow. But I hope he will come on and play a part later on.“
”He had been bowling in Sydney. He will bowl today or tomorrow. We are all tracking him. The time frame is similar for Maxwell,” Cummins said.
Cummins had to skip the South Africa tour due to a wrist fracture he sustained during the Ashes. Smith was unavailable due to a wrist tendon problem, and Starc had experienced groin soreness.
Here is the Australia squad for the India ODIs:
Pat Cummins (captain), Sean Abbott, Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Marnus Labuschagne, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Tanveer Sangha, Matt Short, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, David Warner, Adam Zampa.
