A five-member delegation from the International Cricket Council (ICC) arrived in Karachi on Tuesday, marking a crucial step in the preparations for the 2025 Champions Trophy, set to be hosted by Pakistan. The delegation’s main focus is to inspect the infrastructure, security, and other key logistical elements in the cities where matches are planned.

The delegation consists of senior officials from the ICC’s Events and Security Departments, alongside the General Manager of Cricket and the Production Manager. Each member has a distinct role, ensuring that all aspects of the tournament from security to production are thoroughly planned and executed.
Karachi, one of the primary cities selected to host matches, is undergoing significant construction work to upgrade stadiums and accommodations for teams. Following Karachi, the delegation will head to Islamabad and Lahore, two other key cities involved in the Champions Trophy. Lahore holds special significance, as it has been provisionally chosen as the venue for India’s matches.
This visit will play a pivotal role in determining Pakistan’s readiness to host such a major international tournament, especially considering the scrutiny and expectations surrounding the event.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s preparations

Potential issues around India’s participation

According to the proposed schedule, India is set to play all their group-stage matches at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. This has raised questions about what will happen if India does not receive permission to travel to Pakistan. Considering these challenges, a hybrid plan has been suggested as a possible solution.
