ICC T20 World Cup 2021: Bhuvneshwar Kumar Opens Up On India-Pakistan Sharing The Same Group

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has placed India and Pakistan in the same group of the ICC T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in the UAE and Oman. Reacting to the same, senior fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar that these kinds of matches are always high-pressure games.

Arch-rivals India and Pakistan are placed in Group 2 of the Super 12 stage along with Afghanistan and New Zealand. Two more teams from the qualifier will join the group. The fans are extremely excited for the much-awaited game and intensity has even touched Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

“Always a pressure game. It is going to be a high-intensity match,” said Bhuvneshwar Kumar during a press conference ahead of the limited-overs series against Sri Lanka.

The last time India and Pakistan faced each other in the ICC T20 World Cup, the Men in Blue won the match comfortably. Pakistan was unable to post a big target for India and hence ended on the losing side. Pakistan posted 118 runs at the loss of 5 wickets in 18 overs.

Meanwhile, India won the match by 6 wickets chasing 119 runs with 13 balls remaining. Virat Kohli was awarded the man of the match award for his brilliant half-century.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar focused on the Sri Lanka series

When asked further, the fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh stressed that they will think about the clash after the second half of IPL 2021 ends, days ahead of the T20 World Cup.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has struggled with injuries in the recent past will look to lead a young pace attack against Sri Lanka and gear up for the mega T20 event.

India play the Islanders in a three-match ODI series, which starts from July 18 (Sunday) at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo followed by as many T20Is.
