Sri Lanka has announced the squad for the limited-overs series against India. The India tour of Sri Lanka was all set to start from 13th July. However, due to COVID-19 spread in the Sri Lanka camp, the games were further shifted. According to the new Schedule, the matches will begin from 18th July 2021 and the first game will be an ODI match.

The 25 member squad was selected by the Sri Lanka Selection Committee for ODIs and T20Is. The squad was also approved by the Minister of Youth and Sports Namal Rajapaksa. However, out of 25 members, only 23 are selected for ODIs as Kusal Perera will miss the entire series. Also, Binura Fernando will not be available for ODIs due to an ankle sprain.

“Fast Bowler Binura Fernando sprained his left ankle during a practice session held yesterday (15th July, 2021). It’s a lateral ligament sprain. Fernando will be unavailable for the ODI series of the India Tour of Sri Lanka,” SLC.

Kusal Perera to miss India tour of Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka cricket announced that Kusal Perera has suffered a shoulder sprain. Hence former captain will miss the entire ODI and T20I series.

“Kusal Janith Perera will not be able to take part in the ODI and the T20I series against India owing to an injury. The wicket-Keeper batsman suffered a right shoulder sprain during training,” SLC said in a statement.
