The Pakistan cricket team put up another dominating performance on Tuesday in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. They defeated New Zealand by 5 wickets, registering their second win in as many games in the tournament. The Babar Azam-led side is sitting at the top of the table in group 2 with four points.
The Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi was buzzing with Pakistan fans celebrating the win. A section of fans was chanting “Security Security”, mocking the New Zealand cricket team. In September, the New Zealand National Cricket Team traveled to Pakistan to play a limited-overs series. This was New Zealand’s first tour of Pakistan since 2003. However, they pulled out of the series on the day of the first match citing security reasons.
The move was criticized by former Pakistan cricketers and the fans, who were visibly upset with the decision. After Pakistan’s win in the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 match against New Zealand on Tuesday, fans of the Pakistan team expressed their bitterness by chanting “Security Security”.

Shoaib Malik, Asif Ali’s Heroics seal Pakistan’s victory
Late cameos from Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali got Pakistan over the line against New Zealand in an exciting encounter on Tuesday. After winning the toss, the Pakistan skipper, Babar Azam chose to bowl first. They restricted New Zealand to 134 runs at the loss of eight wickets in 20 overs. Pacer Haris Rauf was the pick of the bowlers with 4/22 in his quota of four overs.
In reply, Pakistan chased down the score in 19 overs. They were in a spot of bother reeling at 87 runs with half the team back in the hut. However, Shoaib Malik and Asif Ali’s sensational partnership of 48 runs for the sixth wicket, sealed the deal for Pakistan. Both Shoaib and Asif remained not out for 26 off 20 and 27 off 12 balls, respectively. Haris Rauf was awarded the Player of the Match for his four-wicket haul in the first innings.
