ICC T20 World Cup 2024: 5 Players Of Bangladesh To Look Out For
Bangladesh

Bangladesh had a disappointing outing right before the T20I series as they lost to the United States of America with a 1-2 scoreline. Their task in the group will be a big challenge to face the likes of Sri Lanka, South Africa, Netherlands, and Nepal.

Bangla Tigers will begin their tournament against Sri Lanka on 7th June at Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, Texas. They would be hoping for a good performance and qualify ahead in the Super Eight stage.

Here we look at the 5 key players:

Liton Das

Litton Das

Liton Das is an explosive right-handed batter who can play attacking strokes in the first six overs which will be key for Bangladesh. His performance in recent times has been poor.

Das scored 127 runs from 5 matches (5 innings) in the 2022 edition of the World Cup. His best score in the tournament was 60 during that tournament. His role for Bangladesh would be to provide flying starts and put enough pressure on the opponent bowlers with an aggressive style of play.

Najmul Hasan Shanto

Najmul Hasan Shanto will look to lead with the bat with his intent. He struggled badly in the T20I series against the United States of America where he got starts but was unable to convert it into a big score.

Shanto would be playing his World Cup as he featured in the 2022 edition. Shanto finished as the leading run-getter for Bangladesh with 180 runs from 5 matches (5 innings) including the best score of 71.

Shanto will be key for Bangladesh coming at number 3 and showing his class with an attacking approach that would put some pressure on opponent bowlers.

Shakib AL Hasan

Shakib AL Hasan will look to perform well with both bat and ball in the T20 World Cup 2024. He struggled in the recent series against the United States of America.

Shakib is currently the leading wicket in T20 World Cups. He would be a key member of Bangladesh’s side with both bat and ball. His all-round performances will look to create the impact making sure that they qualify for the Super 8 stage.

He has played all the editions of the T20 World Cup since its inception in 2007. Bangladesh would depend on him to step up for the final time during the shortest format and quality for the next round.

Rishad Hossain

Rishad Hossain

Rishad Hossain is a leg spin bowler who will be playing in the first T20 World Cup. He made his T20I debut against Ireland on 31st May 2023. Since then, Rishad played a total of 17 T20I matches (16 innings) with 15 wickets at an economy of 7.17 runs per over.

Hossain is someone who can bat lower down the order with full force. He batted in 7 innings with best score of 53. His role is to pick wickets in middle overs and hit vital runs in death overs to help Bangladesh register victories.

Shoriful Islam

Shoriful Islam has all the makings of a decent left-arm pace bowler. He will be key for Bangladesh’s chances to pick early wickets and put pressure on the opponent batters with disciplined lines and lengths.

Shoriful Islam looked impressive in the final match against the USA with 2 for 29 in 4 overs. He has grabbed a total of 46 wickets from 41 matches (40 innings) including figures of 3 for 21 at an economy of 8.15 runs per over.
