During a T20 World Cup clash between Australia and defending champions England, Australian captain Mitchell Marsh smashed a solar panel on the stadium’s roof with a massive six. The incident occurred at the Kensington Oval in Barbados on Saturday, June 8. Marsh’s powerful shot, executed in the ninth over of Australia’s innings off a short ball from Adil Rashid, sent the ball crashing into the solar panel on the roof of the Greenidge-Haynes stand before it bounced out of the ground.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) shared a video of the remarkable shot on Instagram. In the match, Marsh scored 35 runs off 25 balls, including two sixes and two fours. This innings marked a return to form for the 32-year-old, who had struggled in his recent T20I appearances with scores of 14, 4, and 18. Additionally, his performance in the IPL 2024 had been subpar, managing just 61 runs in four matches before an injury ruled him out of the tournament.

Australia Sets Challenging 202-Run Target for England in T20 World Cup Showdown
Australia set a formidable target of 202 runs for England, thanks to a strong batting display. Openers Travis Head and David Warner provided a solid start with scores of 34 (18) and 39 (16), respectively, forming a 70-run partnership. Besides Marsh, notable contributions came from Marcus Stoinis with 30 runs off 17 balls and Glenn Maxwell with 28 runs off 25 balls. Matthew Wade added an unbeaten 17 off 10 balls towards the end of the innings.
Among England’s bowlers, Chris Jordan was the most successful, taking two wickets but conceding 44 runs. Moeen Ali, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, and Liam Livingstone each took one wicket, but they struggled to contain the Australian batsmen as Australia posted a challenging total of 201/7.
